I used to be that person who said I'll NEVER track my food or count calories. And here I am posting about tracking my macros. But, the difference with tracking my macros and counting calories is it is not a diet. It is just a more efficient way to consume your calories, by making the most of what you feed your body. I have never felt "restricted" by counting my macros, because I don't restrict myself on foods I want to eat! You can literally eat whatever foods you want, as long as you fit it into your macros.
I'm freakin amazed with the results I've seen these past few months. And I feel SO GOOD because I'm feeding my body the right amount of protein, carbs and fats for my body to function at its highest potential. Macro tracking is not for everyone, but if you have a healthy relationship with food but want to ramp up the results you're getting from your workouts, this might be something to try.
I told myself I'd try it for just a few weeks and I'm here months later still doing it and still loving it! Plus it's fun trying to figure out your meals and trying to get as close as possible to your targets🤓
For anyone wondering, I use myfitnesspal to input my food and a scale to measure my portions. If you're new to tracking, I recommend not guessing your portions, you will likely be way off lol. I paid less than $10 for a scale from Amazon.
I'll be posting more "What I Eat In A Days" in the coming future.

Ditch the barbell bench press for better pecs 🤔 -
Here’s a controversial one for ya, but just my thoughts:
-
There’s a fairly common trend of male gym goers with a syndrome which I call “Chest Monday bro’ chest” that involves the lack of overall chest development caused by too much low-rep barbell bench pressing, typically combined with significantly more tissue around the lower chest. Overall, very much a chest that looks more developed from the outside-in rather than from the inner-pecs outward ✋🏻❌

Alongside this, bench press is an essential only for those who wish to compete in powerlifting or have a strict strength goal for this particular movement 🔑 -
I’ve never really interested been interested in what my one rep max would be on bench press. Instead, my goal has been to try develop a great physique 🎯 -
Personally, I find dumbbells are the best and the most versatile training tools available to us for several reasons 👇🏼
-
Firstly, dumbbell pressing is safer for most gym users, with fewer joint consequences compared to the barbell, and it is also a lot easier to keep the scapula retracted (let me know if you want more on this concept) 👀 -
Secondly, DBs are superior for developing independent motor control with resistance and will lead to less imbalance long term. For me, symmetry and even development is essential 🙏🏻 -
Thirdly, we can push up and across to shorten the chest when training with DBs whereas the barbell is on a far more fixed motion. This is also where cable flies come into your training as a secondary movement to ensure we fully shorten the pec as well as getting good stimulus from pressing with the DBs 👊🏻 -
Finally, you can't bounce dumbbells off your chest like you can when performing the standard barbell bench press. Don’t try it, just move the load with your targeted muscle, if that means less load then so be it ✅ -

Here is my favorite exercise for shoulders, I could never leave out this one!
~
Do: 4️⃣ ❌1️⃣2️⃣ reps and I promise you a crazy pump!
~
ℹ️USE weights that challenges you to hit that 12:th rep at the end of the set... And try to controll the dumbells on the way down for extra growth 🙏🙏 also don't go to high up since it will have you using your traps instead of the shouldersℹ️

a little bulking physique update

Honestly bulking is hard and uncomfortable. I’d even argue that sometimes it can be harder than dieting down.

It’s hard sometimes to eat a lot (and I mean A LOT). It’s hard to see the scale go up. It’s hard to see your body change. It’s hard to put on clothes that once fit and now are just a litttttle too tight.

But you know what? Sometimes it’s fun too! Like pushing more weight in the gym, hitting PR’s, trying new foods and more!

Bulking is worth it in the end when after the ~6 months you feel and LOOK stronger than ever ✨

Leg day with none other than @deefitnessprofessional honestly since training legs with this guy my strength has gone through the roof. We push each other to our limits every time!
This post features 2 of the leg day exercises.
Squats where I hit a PB of 120kg for 2 reps
Hack squat 6 reps on 110kg
After this we went on to do:
Leg press
Lunges
Standing hamstring curls s/s leg extensions
Adductor s/s with abductor. Safe to say I felt my breakfast on its way back up a few times 🌝 but is it really leg day if that’s not the case?🤷🏼‍♀️ gains come from hard work. Too many people train easy and get disappointed when they don’t see what they want to see. You gotta take your body outside it’s comfort zone to hit your maximum potential 💪🏼

The many stages of a my fitness journey. I’m posting this to show everyone that not every stage of achieving your goal physique is pretty. If you want to make true progress you’re going to have to be ok with not being shredded year round. This is why I truly believe the only people who should compete are those who enjoy the PROCESS of improving, not the end product. If you are in this sport for the vanity of looking great year round, then you’re probably more suited to be a fitness model, not a competitive bodybuilder. Not only that, but tying your happiness/success to your current physical appearance vs your overall progression is bound to lead to negative body image issues and overall unhappiness. Learn to enjoy the process of improving and I promise you, you will be much more fulfilled in your fitness journey.

I was once okay with being “okay”... I was average... but then I wanted more.
I want from “okay” to “good”. I was good enough to get up on that stage just for experience.
But then my mentality changed again and soon I found myself wanting to be great.

If anyone needs a good #core challenge (or any exercise ideas / cueing), check out my former classmate @c_reed.fit. Got this push up / plank variation from Chris, and it was quite humbling to say the least 😳. If you attempt, make sure you press HARD into the ground with the three stationary limbs and squeeze the crap out of your glutes. .

Paired 3 sets of 5 of these puppies with 3 sets of 3 (10 sec) plank rolls as my warmup for back day. For the plank rolls, make sure to maximize what contact you have with the floor: your forearm and both feet. I’m finally getting better at stabilizing my left shoulder... it takes practice but if you keep at it, it will click! .

What we have here has to be my favourite method of training shoulders and arms after all my compound exercises on upper body day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ill do 3 sets of 15 for each variation for each and the reason why is because the pump is absolutely amazing but secondly because it's also very time efficient because these are all isolation movements that only target on muscle group so you dont need a lot of recovery time.

Il PULLEY BASSO è un esercizio che stimola maggiormente gli adduttori delle scapole (romboidi e trapezio medio), il gran dorsale e il grande rotondo (estensori dell’omero). L’esecuzione corretta prevede una partenza da seduti ma con le gambe in avanti, i piedi appoggiati ai supporti e il tronco perpendicolare al terreno. Le braccia all’inizio completamente distese e si spingono i gomiti indietro, portando il triangolo all’incirca alla pancia ed enfatizzando l’adduzione delle scapole. Queste ultime vanno dunque mantenute fisse in adduzione, con una contrazione isometrica degli adduttori delle scapole.
Mantenendo infine la lordosi lombare in leggera estensione, il gran dorsale avrà modo di raggiungere il massimo accorciamento alla fine della concentrica.

First true unfiltered physique update in a while 👀

Less than ideal lighting. No pump. Just me and some aggressively rolled up athletic shorts 😅

I'm currently just over 2 weeks into my mini-cut, and starting to notice a solid drop in body fat so far.

Plan is to continue for at least another 2 weeks, re-evaluate where I'm at in terms of body fat (currently roughly 12-13%), and decide how much longer I want to stay in a deficit (if at all).

Training has remained the same as it was before this cutting phase, and I'm actually still gaining a bit of strength on some major movements (probably not for too much longer).

I typically train 6 days a week, taking a rest day whichever day I end up needing to on a given week.

These workouts consist of two full cycles of a push day, pull day, and leg day. I include cardio post-workout 2-3 times a week, though I'm not super strict about those sessions given that my calories aren't too low at the moment.

Still just grinding & doing my thing day in and day out. Grateful for the support you guys offer me, always plotting my next move, and always sharpening my progressive mindset 🙏🏻

PHYSIQUE UPDATE

It’s been a long while since I’ve done an update on my physique and where I am at with things. Currently sitting at around 163lbs. Which is well above my comfortable weight of 145lbs.
.
My body is still not responding as well as it should to a calorie deficit but I’m definitely at my healthiest right now with training and my food choices. Started something new last week which I will touch on in a later post for hormonal balance. But for now just trying to stay consistent with my macros.
.
I can 💯 percent say that my gut has been 10000x better now and that repairing it has been well worth the time and effort. So if you are considering on doing the same please, don’t hesitate to reach out. (Which I need to get on my igtv and update on this; life got little more busy)
.
