T is for Trilogy, and today I want to focus on the first 3 Uncharted games. I have to be honest, I never got why the Uncharted series is SO beloved by people. It's a fun series, I actually liked the second and third games, but reading about it on the internet, you'd think it's the absolute peek of gaming development. Everyone keeps praising the stories in these games, but I've always seen them as B movie plots, fun pop-corn flicks and nothing more.
And the gameplay is bad. It's just bad. Not only the first game, which is actually one of the worst games, from a gameplay perspective, that I've ever played, but the second and third one too. Yes, they have fun set pieces, with you running on top of collapsing buildings, but it's so scripted and one dimensional that it always pulls me out. And the enemies are boring bullet sponges that make every playthrough that isn't on easy very annoying.
Again, I don't hate the Uncharted games (well, maybe the first one), I beat the second one in a single session; I just don't see them as these landmarks for gaming. Which is fine, not all games need to be the best things ever; but it always amazes me that SO MANY people actually see them as the best things ever. Hearing about Uncharted 2 as a "game of the generation" is still mind-blowing to me!
That was my little rant 😅 Don't forget, #RCEA2Z is hosted by @retrocollectiveeurope 😁
