Let’s chat about being overwhelmed. As I was on the phone with my mom today, she mentioned how stressed she was and I casually said, “everyone I know is stressed and overwhelmed”.
Even as it came out of my mouth I hated myself. How did I let myself get here? Even the motivational podcasts I listen to while working out to relive stress are talking about it. It’s like I can’t get away from it!
So I hung up the phone and wrote out a list of things I’m really proud of that I’ve recently achieved or crossed off my list. Even though the list wasn’t huge, seeing them down on *real* paper made me feel a little less stress and anxious.
Lately I’m being drawn to go explore, off the grid, where my phone can’t bing and I spend hours chasing adventures with my favorite travel buddies. What do you do to undo the overwhelm? I’d love to know your tips!
And here’s a photo from last September, where Bob and I were chasing light as we road tripped around @visitidaho. One of our fav trips of last year - no service, just the sound the rushing river, Kid Augustine playing with sticks & the two of us taking turns snapping pics. Perfect!
A brutal but victorious climb up Mt. St. Helens! A majority of the view was hidden through smoke/fog, but the adventure up was unbelievable. It was definitely an unforgettable experience. #mtsthelenssummit#legsaredead#pnwhiking

These seals jumped into the ocean immediately after this picture, they caught me sneaking up on them
I've been chasing waterfalls in Oregon so beware my next series of posts will be my love for waterfalls in this great state which has got to have some of the most beautiful and spectacular waterfalls I've seen but also so close together!
Chiweenie had a big weekend. She climbed to the false summit of South Sister, then hitched a ride to top for the views. Everyone who saw her either hiking or in my pack was astonished to see a small dog having so much fun on such a huge adventure. I’m so proud of the little thing, she’s come along way from the annoying purse dog days of her youth. #lifeasachiweenie
First solo camping trip = perfection.
Gold Myer Hotsprings, things to note:
-high clearance vehicles a must.
-coffee is amazing while hammocking by a river.
-mosquito neeting for a hammock (super cool)
-you can forget how your back, calves and shoulders hurt if you alternate in a hot spings and ice cold spring for an hour and a half.
-cant wait till winter time...

35 of the hardest miles I’ve ever hiked. Northern Loop- you did not disappoint. While backpacking I couldn’t help but be overwhelmed with gratitude for so many things:
- optimistic, kind and happy friends who, despite getting poured on and having soaking wet gear, would be smiling when I’d see them
-my strong legs, shoulders and back for carrying me up over 10k ft of elevation these past 3 days
-community- for all those we passed who were out, exploring and pushing their bodies to accomplish this beautiful loop and for the conversations we were able to have with each group we passed
-for such an encouraging partner who told me countless times “you’re doing great!” every time I felt like stopping (and for putting up with my counting, song remixes and games) #pnwhiking#backpacking#mtrainier#sweatydirtyhappy
i love my four legged companion and would bring him on all my adventures if i could, but some areas are simply too fragile, too rugged, or simply too wild for our pets to visit without having a significant impact on the environment.
respect the land as it was long before you came, so it will stay that way long after you leave.
love your mother
leave no trace & keep the wildlife wild.
Beautiful North Sister. I've always thought she was the shyest one.

A theme of our year has been TRY NEW THINGS. So far, we’ve tried living in a van in Mexico, building our home, scootering around an island (where I completely wiped out), mountain biking (again, completely flipped over the handle bars), backpacking and more! . .
The next thing I REALLY want to try is climbing. What do you want to try?? (And what other things do you want to see US try?)

Someday we hope to be the type of people that no matter how cold the water is, we can just jump right in without hesitation. Usually we stand on the edge with our toes in, maybe work our way up to ours knees, and swear it's too cold for any living creature. We know there's no sense toggling back and forth just staring at the inviting water we so badly want to get in, but it still takes us a second to push past the mental barrier and just do it. It's always worth it afterwards and it feels insanely refreshing, that is once your digits warm back up.
Everyone laughed at the fact that I brought a disposable camera on the mountain..... just got the prints back and obviously don’t regret it.
The worse anyone could think of during a hike would be a storm. You're just stuck on a middle ground with nowhere to go. Not even the flag we attached was happy about it, I guess
Gypsy life. As much as it's beautiful to look at, I'm not sure I want to live like this. Blessed to be who I am right now
My ride back home
Hmm Will have to think twice before getting in there but probably won't mind the looks if it's comfy inside
Got my models right on the spot for the perfect pose
At the elevation of 3,200 meters above sea level there is shortage of oxygen as I couldn't go any further and had to use my inhaler (just to let you know, I have an asthma problem) but one thing is to be of certain, that, there will be no shortage of water, as I even drank from this one
Onto the unknown
Epic scale of mountains
A mixture of The Golden Hour & fog . Couldn't get any better than that
A dizzy journey ahead but totally worth it
Wow. Before posting my 100th pic, I knew I had 10k followers but never realized that I'm posting my 100th. How time passes by. Thank you so much for the support. Love you all
