@pointerrescue_org foster pup, Porter, is settling in nicely! He is a total sweet heart! Porter had his initial check up at the vet last night. Below is a short summary of all we know about Porter so far! .
•approximately 2 years old
•aside from being extremely thin, is in overall good health (heart, lungs, eyes, lymph nodes all look good)!
•heart worm, Lyme, anaplasmosis, and Ehrlichia negative!
•everyone he meets!
•playing with other dogs
•treats- especially duck flavor!
•going outside- seems fearful of the outside and stressed about pottying. He needs to potty in the furthest corner possible (common with kennel dogs)..
Things Porter is good at:
•crate training: Is able to have a crate pad, and crate cover without chewing it, Goes in his crate willingly, does not complain, And whether the crate door is open or close he sleeps soundly through the night. No accidents in the crate so far overnight, or with being left for up to 2 hours during the day .
•house training: Only one accident so far, and by no fault of his own. We quickly adjusted to his signals, and no problems since!
•learning the leash - doesn’t quite get how to walk in a straight line yet but doesn’t pull at all! .
Things we need to work on with Porter:
•house manners: counter surfing, “stealing” slippers and sneakers, thinking they are toys •all basic commands
•making outside FUN!
•reducing the urge to mount other dogs (this will most likely occur naturally after he is neutered). So far he has been introduced to Whiskey and margarita. .

Porter will be available to approved PRO adopters on or about 12/29/18. Transport is available to approved homes (generally within 1,500 miles). The link for adoption information and application is in our bio. Cheers!🍻
