Feeling all kinds of gratitude. I had signed up for a postpartum course with @ancientsong and by some universe blessing was able to spend the weekend in a full spectrum training with my friend/soulmate/loveofmylife @daryanipoonam — reposting this first photo from @ancientsong where I am spotted leaning on Poonam and possibly whispering in her ear.. which is an accurate reflection of how I spent the last three days. Major thanks to Ancient Song and @nativesol7 for creating such a powerful space for learning, growth and intention. This room was FULL of badass folks who are dedicated to justice, anti-oppression and community building. Sad to say goodbye for now, but I cannot wait to see what they do next.

• Supplementation is so important in the prenatal and post partum period. Your body is either preparing for, growing, or about to deliver a baby. My top 2 leg exercises are hip thrusts and RDL’s (Romanian deadlifts)! Most people only work the anterior (front) chain of the legs and posterior (back) chain is forgotten about, which causes an imbalance in your body leading to injury. •
I’ve swapped to only doing banded hip thrusts as I can’t put any load across my hips now I have a belly in the way. I use hip thrusts as a warm up exercise before I do squats, lunges and RDLS to activate my glutes. But I’d usually add weighted hip thrusts to my workout to increase more strength and muscle to my glutes. •
If you have a job that requires you to sit for long periods of time most of the time your hips lock up, glutes become inactive and this can cause lower back pain. So start your leg workout with glute bridges or hip thrusts to fire your glutes up before hitting squats and lunges.

During squats and lunges your quads are the dominate muscle during the exercise so developing strong glutes and hamstrings is not only essential for optimal performance but crucial in preventing injuries. •
RDLs work your glutes and hamstrings better than conventional deadlifts as the quads don’t contribute as much and RDLs increase the mobility in your hips. I suggest asking a personal trainer to teach you how to do these correctly though, if performed incorrectly you can injure your lower back. •
If that’s not enough info to get you to add RDLs and hip thrusts to you leg routine then these two exercises will improve the appearance of you back side. Want a booty girls? Hip thrusts and RDLs are two answers to growing your booty!🍑🍑
