#latergram Cabeça sits at the edge of the Serra de Estrela Natural Park. Ever December the village is transformed into a Christmas Village with eco-sustainable décor that used natural elements, including unused and surplus agricultural and forest products from the surrounding mountains.
#latergram Hidden in the Serra do Açor, Piódão is one of a the historic villages in Portugal that make up the @aldeiashistoricas network. Narrow streets are lined with schist buildings. Hints of blue are found throughout the village, especially on doors and windows. Surrounding this scenic village are striking mountains and idyllic farmland. While not the easiest destination to reach in the country, it is one of the prettiest and most memorable.
#vacationmode When I talk to people about Portugal, they think about the beautiful beaches of Algarve and the historic cities of Porto and Lisbon, or maybe they’ll mention wine and delicious custard tarts. My favourite part of Portugal is its interior - stunning mountain ranges, pine forests filled with the sound of birds, quaint villages in hidden valleys and forgotten hilltops, and fewer tourists. If I lived in a place with mountains at my doorstep, I would be driving along windy roads and hiking along scenic paths at every opportunity.
