Ah a Mumma and Daddio checking their babies. Here we were thinking that due to the dry weather our bees were not fairing so well. So with a bit of research we decided to open up the hive and check the brood box, for us novices, the brood is where the queen bee lays the babies and in the photos you can see them as brown fury stuff. Seems she has been busy laying babies and we even saw a bee hatching. Old hawk eye Wilko found the queen bee, he had at one stage bees in his hands, one stung him but that’s his initiation into being a bee keeper! So we were very happy with what we saw. The second box has good honey stores and we will keep the honey there so they make it through the winter. We will keep a watchful eye on them and keep a look out for bettles but at this stage we are going well. Thanking the universe that #cycloneoma didn’t reach our area, just strong winds and a bit of rain.
