About a year ago in the Manjimup pub during a grower group meeting a plan was hatched, an idea @bootsb4heels came up with and one that Claire Mcclelland(pictured above) took to next level. The plan was to make an industry group aimed at fostering the future of the industry. To encourage young people around horticulture to get involved with industry, to share information, to network, to be proud of what they are doing and to be a part of the future decision making of the industry.
Introducing HortConnectWA in conjunction with VegetablesWA, PomeWest, WA Citrus and WA Potatoes HortConnectWA is a way to bring like minded young horticultural professionals together through events and workshops. Headed up by Claire Mcclelland from vegetables WA and 3 ambassadors(pictured above) Mitchell East, Catrin Evans and Mat Fox. Three young growers (two from the southern forests area) hoping to make a difference and encourage others to do the same.
All are welcome to join and the more who do the better it will become, the beauty is that it covers all areas, you can be involved in veggies, fruit, pasture, sheep, cattle, flowers, fish and even bees. If you are involved in any part of the horticultural industry have a look at hortconnectwa.net and on socials see what it’s all about.
Upcoming events are the Heart of WA ball in September, a grower tour with cocktail event in October and a Hort brunch with guest speaker @the.naked.farmer, come along for all the fun! Tag anyone who you think would be interested #letsdothis
