The living room in the David Adjaye designed Upper East Side townhouse of art dealer/collector Adam Lindemann. Jean Royère ’Ours Polaire’ sofa and armchair, Ivan da Silva Bruhns rug and an ’African Table’ by John Dickinson. But enough about the furniture and lets talk about the painting: Jean-Michel Basquiat’s powerful masterpiece ’Untitled (Devil)’. Painted in Modena, Italy in 1982, the prime year of Basquiat’s career, when the artist was just 22 years old. Epic in both size (238 x 500 cm) and quality this seminal work was the star lot of Christie’s Post-War and Contemporary evening sale in May 2016 and fetched 57,285,000 USD. I got to see this painting in a museum exhibition in Paris in early 2011 and could at least afford the 9 euros in admission. Photo by @brettgorvy.
