What drives you to do what you do? 👇🏻
I’ve been noodling on this question a lot lately and realized these driving forces have evolved a lot over the years.
I used to play this game for the likes, comments, and features. This was my oxygen and validated my self-worth...until the dreaded algorithm showed me how meaningless and depressing this pursuit was.
It had to be something bigger.
Ya, I do this for me because it satisfies a creative craving to put something into this world. However, it’s always felt bigger than me.
There’s enough negativity in this world, how can I make a tiny little dent with my work and my voice?
How can I create something that my lost self in my early 20’s could leverage to get out of my own way?
With my son in the picture, I’m more driven than ever to create something that he’ll be hella proud of his 'da-da' one day.
So I ask again, what are those driving forces for you?
It’s gotta be something bigger than the meaningless vanity metrics from people you don’t even know and will never meet—that shit isn’t real.
Making an impact, being vulnerable, and being a good human is real.
Showing up as your true self offline AND online is the most gangster thing you can do, and maybe that’s a driving force as well?
Whatever drives you, make it mean something and enjoy the ride.
