So, at 25 I have figured out that reading is FREAKING AWESOME!
95% of our thoughts are repetition. We've thought these thoughts before.
Most of our conversations are to do with completing daily tasks or describing fleeting moments of emotion or feelings (which change moment to moment so don't really matter anyway.. but consciousness & presence is a whole new debate ) What I've realised is that reading gives us insights and perspectives in depth that we don't often get in our daily conversations (although I love a good D'n'M!). Like... these people are experts! How did I never see the amazing-ness that is reading books before!? I'm trying to convince Adam to start reading, and put it like this.... you know when you look at people who dont live a healthy life or work-out and you're think, "Argh you have no idea what you're missing! Life is so much better when you're continually improving!" Well I figure smart people look at us plebs and are like.. "Mate, your poor brain, living a life of same-ness and repetition. Expand your perceptions to something new that can benefit the way you see the world!" So anyway, thats my 2 cents on my new hobby. My new escapism, but in a beneficial way. This is not even two weeks worth of my reading (I've lent some out too). I'm get pretty speedy at it now, and it's made comprehending boring uni papers so much easier
Plus highlighting and scribbling all over them helps the info stick in my mind... try it!
Less social media, more learning interesting topics.. I've got about 15 books in the post, 2nd-hand books is the buzz .
