Stress has 2 components: there is the stressor (for instance you are stuck in traffic), and there is the way you REACT to the stressor (you get super annoyed and your stress hormones shoot to the roof, or you just couldn't care less and enjoy a nice break away from kids and spouse... oh, they are all in the car? Sorry guys!). We cannot always control stressors, but we can try to control the way we react to them. Using this easy strategy can help enormously. When you are getting stressed out for any reason, ask yourself: "What will be the impact of this event on my life a year from now?" Sometimes, it can bring your stress and cortisol down IMMEDIATELY!
Sometimes, on the opposite, thinking about this question will make you come to the conclusion that you HAVE TO TAKE ACTION to remove that stressor, because it's a recurring source of stress in your life and it's keeping you from being fully happy.
Take the time to ask yourself that question as often as stress kicks in. You'll see, you'll make lots of changes and your stress level will go down tremendously.
