FULL ARMOUR ATHLETE CONTINUES TO SHINE!
May 18, 2018
CHICAGO – Baylor soccer rising senior midfielder Julie James has just returned from the U.S. Under-23 Women’s National Team training camp, held May 11-18th at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson, Calif.
The Fairview, Texas, native - who graduated from McKinney Christian Academy in 2015 - is one of only 23 collegiate student-athletes called back to train. “Julie continues to impress at the highest level,” said Baylor head coach Paul Jobson. “It’s awesome that the US National Team is getting the opportunity to experience what we are blessed with every day here at Baylor.” James was last with the U-23 WNT for three matches in early March against National Women’s Soccer League WSL teams at the Thorns Spring Invitational in Portland, Ore. She is still the only student-athlete called from the Big 12 and is the only native Texan in the group. A strong showing in 2017 secured the invitation for James, with the junior earning United Soccer Coaches All-Region Second Team, All-Big 12 First Team, and Scholar All-America Second Team.
She served as one of the three captains for the 2017 squad, helping lead BU to a Big 12 tournament title and the program’s best-ever run in the NCAA postseason, advancing to the Elite 8 for the first time. In some of her best outings of the season, James was named to the Big 12 Soccer Championship All-Tournament team after shutting down three of the conference’s top offenses.
James’ dedication to the Full Armour 8 Principles have served her well. She will spend the remainder of the summer training, mentoring, and coaching athletes at the Full Armour Strength & Agility Program at McKinney Christian Academy before heading back to preseason camp at Baylor in early July. _____________________
