It’s such a resilient #plant; I’ve cut it back to #propagate so many times and it just keeps pushing out #newgrowth.
And this got me thinking about #vetschool. I feel like a lot of the time, we post a bleak reality of the program, but there are so many great things about the profession, apart from cuddling fuzzy babies. Yes, there are a lot of exams, and yes it’s a lot of work, but we’ve had so many opportunities for personal development, too. It’s not the end of the world if you don’t get 100% on an exam, because there are so many more to demonstrate your understanding, and we know that getting “good grades” on an exam can’t be equated with being a “good” vet.
Vet school teaches you how to be #resilient, and it also teaches you how to be thoughtful. Just today, we had a discussion on ethics and #standardofcare. We learned a lot from our colleagues and also had time to reflect on what our #ethics are.
We think that standard of care is a cut and dry topic, but in #vetmed you have to think creatively to do what’s best for your patient and client while being respectful of financial constraints.
Although it’s kind of terrifying to think that we’re nearly halfway to becoming #dogtors, it’s also helpful to remember why we want to be #veterinarians as we approach #finalsweek. Even though some exams might hurt, we’re going to make it through and learn a lot 😻

It's a plantshelfie on steroids 😁 Still feeding with organic liquid seaweed and the lights are on for twelve hours a day on a timer. I do need to fill the humidifier every day though, but that's totally alright 💚 Having a routine when I water them and wipe + dust the shelves makes everything much more relaxing afterwards. It takes only an hour to do this shelfie 🌿 Always on a look out for pest and problems also. So far so good 💚🌿💚 No complaints as of now 😆 Crossing my fingers for good vibes for the next two months 🤪 Hope it continues this way, it feels much better 😬😁

1) De forma sexuada 💚 a través de semillas.

Estas son estructuras que se producen a partir de la cruza entre dos plantas parentales 👪 (algo similar a lo que ocurre con las personas🤰🏻). Asi, se heredan características de ambos padres 🧔🏻👩🏻, y la cruza da una semilla con característica genéticas únicas, produciendo “variabilidad genética” en la población 🧬.

2) De forma asexuada 😯 o producción de clones.
.
Las plantas se pueden propagar por diferentes estructuras que permiten generar clones 👯‍♀de la planta madre. Esto quiere decir que la nueva planta 🌱 será exactamente igual a la de origen 🌱. Algunos ejemplos son:
- Rizomas (como el jengibre o las Alstroemerias 🌼)
- Estolones (que se producen naturalmente en las frutillas 🍓)
- Bulbos (muchas flores, como liliums y tulipanes 🌷)
- Tubérculos (como las papas 🥔)

Just like this little fiddle leaf fig that I’m propagating, I await to finally grow roots. Our life has been full of ups and downs. I suppose living a nomadic life you can expect that. I have moved to so many different places in my life. Making it nearly impossible to grow roots. I guess I never really tried or felt like there wasn’t a point. After being in one place for a few months, I can feel that subtle itch creeping to the surface. I guess what I’m getting at is that I’ve never really felt like anywhere is home. So I wait, like my dear little fiddle leaf, to feel strong enough to sprout roots and when the timing is just right something beautiful grow.

•Fiddle leaf fig propagation•

I cut this leaf off my fiddle leaf fig roughly around 5 months ago. I didn’t think it would grow roots, but after 2-3 months in water it finally grew its first roots.
To propagate a fiddle leaf, you need to cut it from stem/branch of the leaf (just make sure you don’t cut too close to the leaf). Then, pop it in some water and watch your leaf grow some roots. •

Bet you never would've guessed I also keep and propagate succulents 😂 that's right, over 100 plants. No one is happy inside for winter, but random freezing nights is too dangerous for 90%of them 😔. The only happy one is the aloe vera. (Not pictured). Did you know aloe vera is actually happy as a low-medium light indoor plant? . Sorry for the blurry picture of my propagation trays 😫

Happy #monsteramonday!
I love how #sculptural this became! I removed the stake and finished the #shousugiban technique and put it all back togethertaking extra special care not to break the fragile air roots. The large original leaf will inevitably die off. It has definitely served its purpose as being the sole supplier of #photosynthesis for about 4 months so no real surprise it has turned yellow as the cells are probably a bit overworked. There is already a new sprout so I’ll be watching that closely over the next several weeks. #monsteradeliciosa #monstera

On November fourth I photographed my #monsteraadansonii turning yellow and being overall irritated as the cool weather finally rolled into the desert. I am happy to report that 5 weeks later the mother plants are doing much better after being cut back a bit and switched to a brighter area. Another bonus of cutting her back is obviously I can #propagate those cuttings as long as there is a node attached, which I did! Here they are, five weeks later and ready for soil. Spent the day propagating this Elephant Ear Plant! Managed to get 12 babies out of it. Mine lives indoors with indirect bright light and some direct light in the late afternoon. Super lush and the perfect plant to bring a jungle feel into your home with it's big leaves.
