In April of 2016 I started working on my Travel Story / Memoir, writing about mental health, relationships, and how life chose for me to live in a Bus.
Most importantly, it is a Love Story.
Over the past two years, I have struggled physically, mentally, and creatively to turn my "purging of thoughts" into words, sentences and paragraphs that are remotely readable and enjoyable.
I have written more than 175,000 words spanning 400 pages. Books such as Wild, and Eat Pray Love are roughly 80-100,000 words. Much editing and revision is needed on my story.
It has become my current life's project and goal, important and difficult, yet immerasurable in knowledge and self-fulfilment. It is simply what I must do.
For the past 4 months I have been re-writing, editing and prepping the first 27 pages of the book for the Pacific Northwest Writers' Association contest for unpublished works.
Here I am holding the first printed pages of my Book. I sent in the final draft of the beginning yesterday. First prize is $600 and the chance to meet with agents for possible publication. I am mostly excited about the fact that I now know I am fully capable of succeeding as a writer; I have what it takes to get it done.
I am excited, nervous, anxious, relieved, hopefull, scared, happy, joyful. It is nerve wrecking to be critiqued on the thoughts and feelings that have so far only been in my head.
