THE 2 STEP PROCESS TO PAIN RELIEF
Elbow injuries are a real pain to deal with (No pun intended). Because gripping, grabbing, carrying, and lifting things are all essential human functions, it can be really hard to get elbow pain to calm down. And it often takes a pretty meticulous approach and attention to detail. So today, I want to share with you two PRINCIPLES that will help you out when dealing with any pain or injury. These are 2 of the 5 components that I incorporate into all my rehab plans, and here we'll look at them in the context of the elbow.
Step 1: UNLOAD IT
️All of the grip muscles feed into your elbow on both the outside and inside. Go ahead and make a tight fist. Feel how both sides of the forearm tense up. The first thing we need to do is get the pain to calm down, and that takes a lot of movement modification. In the gym, lifting straps are my go to. But this principle extends to day to day life too. Try to find trigger movements and modify. Maybe that's using the other hand a bit more or carrying things differently. But try to make those modifciations.
Step 2: RELOAD IT
️Reloading is building you back up. This is necessary because life isn't going to cut you any breaks. Stress is still going to happen. Demand is still going to be there. And you're either ready to handle it or your not. So we rebuild stronger than before. This is just good old fashioned training, starting with manageable loads and progressively moving forward. Aka my favorite saying...put in the work.
