Well, I think I am finally friends with this quilt again! For whatever reason, I struggled the whole way through the making of this one. I had envisioned that this would be one epic finish since I absolutely love Jen Kingwell’s fabrics, but something about the fabrics just felt flat and empty the whole time I was working with them. I even made this one take several timeouts in the process. Maybe it’s because I’m happiest mixing fabric lines instead of sticking with one line, or maybe it was simply that this gal needed to be stippled, bound, and taken outside for a photo shoot in natural light for me to be happy with her again? I struggled with the fabric selection for the setting triangles as well, but now that she’s finished, it doesn’t even seem to be a big deal anymore. Anyway, I think we’re back to being besties, and I’m really looking forward to teaching this class at The Old Country Store. I’m also getting ready to make a second one in a totally different colorway with a little more modern approach to the machine quilting. Stay tuned!
