Vanity impedes happiness. In 1846 a man named Lecomte was sentenced to death for trying to assassinate French king. In his final hours he cared more about wearing his finest clothes, being clean shaven and the opinion of complete strangers rather than finding inner peace. Caring about what others think is something we’re all guilty off however the opinion of others will distract you from finding peace of mind and inner contentment, both of which are crucial to a happy existence. This is something I’m trying to work on and it’s a tough task but now I see vanity for what it is, impeding my happiness, I am one step closer to getting rid of it.
