Do you read children's books? My daughter is 9 and she reads a variety of books. This week she finished Holes, A Boy Called Bat, I Survived the Attack of the Grizzlies and she is currently reading Eleanor Roosevelt's in My Garage.
I don't usually read the books she reads, but something about A Boy Called Bat by @elanakarnold grabbed my attention. Bat's mom is a vet and brings home a skunk kit to care for. We get to watch as Bat falls in love with the skunk and tries to convince his mom that keeping it is the best decision. Bat also appears to be autistic though that isn't explicitly said in the book? Though I could have missed it.
Bat is sweet, thoughtful, caring, funny (maybe not always intentionally) and he loves his family, which now includes a tiny baby skunk. Arnold created this lovely family that felt true and real. I have already harassed my child to borrow book 2 from the library as soon as spring break is over so we are prepared when book 3 comes out at the end of the month. 😂
Of course, my regular genre is romance so while I was reading this I was also really wanting someone to write Bat's teacher's love story. Patient Mr. Grayson with his furry bunny, orange shoes and orange car. 😁

Oh! And I made a little box out of white foam board and my pic turned out great, if I do say so myself.
