I’ve been doing a lot of self work lately... working on my mind... trying to reframe thoughts that keep me in negative loops, and just keep pushing on toward my goals... because shoot you guys, life is hard sometimes... and 50% of the time I just want to give up. Go watch Netflix... stuff my face with sweets and maybe drink a whole bottle of red wine. That sounds like more fun. Shouldn’t life be fun?
But here’s the thing... immediate pleasure now is holding us back from fulfilling our big dreams and goals. Gosh and every time I learn more about mindset work, I keep hitting myself and thinking... Geeze, Allison.. YOU KNOW THIS ALREADY. The mountains teach the same damn thing. 👇👇
Hiking, summiting peaks, backpacking long trails... is fun maybe 50% of the time... and sometimes sucks 50% of the time. If I’m being honest! I mean... those really hard peaks and trails we set goals to go do... they can be freaking tough... and half way through it we are just like, “damn... I just want to sit down... I can’t even freaking breathe or feel my feet right now”... we jokingly refer to this as “type 2 fun” sometimes .... but experience tells us, that when we push on past the pain and the hard bits... then shoot... it’s so damn worth it..... sooooo sooo worth it! ❤️❤️ So from one friend to another... in case you’re feeling like the struggle is real right now, just know that I 100% get that and I’m dealing with the same thing right now. But let’s keep showing up. Let’s keep taking radical action toward our goals despite the pain. Let’s push past the hard bits... we are nearly at the summit. And even if we fail to get there for some reason... we at least know we gave it everything we had. And that’s worth all of the hard work. 💪
