Today I had the enormous honor of presenting a “Rising Star” award to my star student Makayla. It is presented monthly to a senior at each of the high schools in Vista who have overcome adversity, gives to others or helps out in their community. Makayla is such a positive force, a wonderful and hard working student, gives 110% of everything she does and the president of the Best Buddies club at our school. The principals or Assistant Principal speak, then students give a speech in front of the Mayor, Chamber of Commerce and other local organizations, followed by their nominating teacher and then parents. To hear the great things these students are doing would make you swell up with pride! There is seriously not a dry eye through the whole ceremony, since you’re so proud of these kids. And honestly, how many times as a teacher do you get to go up in front of everyone and say how special your student is? It’s honestly everything good about being a teacher and being in education. The future is BRIGHT! Congratulations Makayla and thank you for representing RBV! .
