I’ve been seeing some new faces and thought it would be the perfect time for #fridayintroductions. Plus, I also really wanted an excuse to post this picture, @christopherlaneweddings you are amazing!
I’m Marlie, owner and creative director of #MarlieReneeDesigns a bespoke wedding invitation and design studio located in Jersey City. Since we are now one week away from our wedding anniversary, I thought it would be fitting to give you some tidbits about #marriedlife. Enjoy!
I’m obsessed the Jersey City/Hoboken area. So much so we decided to have our wedding ceremony and reception in Jersey City. There’s something really special about having the places we got married still a part of our lives. We go to the same church we got married at most Sundays (need to go more often!) and just last week we grabbed lunch with my mom at @maritimeparc where we had our reception. It keeps the day alive in my mind and brings joy to my heart. If possible, I highly recommend visiting the places you got married at whenever you get the chance.
I truly think the most important part about marriage is having someone who is your partner. I know it’s cliché to say “I married my best friend”, but it really is important to find someone who is your best friend - a person who is your #1 fan, challenges you to be the best version of yourself and gives you tough love when you need it, and supports the hell out of your dreams (career, family, etc). So yeah your spouse is technically your best friend...best friend with benefits.
Another thing that has kept our 1 year marriage/8 year relationship strong is that we do date nights every Friday night. Some nights we’ll pretend we’re fancy and go out to a nice boujee restaurant, other nights we order delivery and stay home in our sweats watching reruns of the office. Either way we make it our night whenever possible. Between work and family and chores and life, it gets hard to spend that quality time that your relationship needs. Carving out this time really helps, plus who doesn’t love a good #datenight! So that’s enough about me...would love to hear what #wedding advice you have for newlyweds!
