When I got married, I made the common mistake of looking for my wedding dress - and buying it - before we booked our venue. I was super lucky in that it fit well with the overall vibe, but keeping in mind where you're getting married, and what time of year, while dress shopping can be really helpful and important!
For instance, if you're having a beach wedding somewhere where the weather will be incredibly hot and you'll be on the sand, a big gown with lots of layers may not make sense. You may end up wishing you had gotten something that was a little more breathable and light. Additionally, if you're getting married in December (and you have winters like we do here in the midwest), and you can't wait to have outdoor portraits, but opt for a strapless, light dress, you may be freezing and miserable during photos. In that case, finding a wrap, cute jacket, or fur that matches your dress that you can still be photographed in, would be life changing. That way, you can take it on and off as you go from indoors to outdoors throughout the day.
In the end, though, finding something that makes you feel the most beautiful and your best self, is more important than anything!
And we can all agree that Cat’s dress was perfection in Mexico - it was elegant, light, and easy to dance in all night long at their outdoor reception 😍
