The second class was aimed at trimming down the base of the clay and making the shape more uniform. I had no idea what I was making, bowl, cup or plate. Whatever's left that I didn't break I'm happy with. Basically you take three measurements. The total depth of the receptable, the internal depth and the thickness of the wall. Subtract the second and third measurements from the first, and that's the amount you need to trim down the base, plus leave a rim at the base. A nice and steady hand is needed for this, and if the clay is too wet or too dry it is very hard to get an even trim. I also panic and start scraping off too much, so ended up scratching or making the edge lop-sided. All in all it didn't look too bad. I didn’t get to film that do just random videos of people making more advanced stuff like Christmas decorations.
