The brainchild of wildlife photographer and conservationist Margot Raggett, the @rememberingwildlife series of photography books celebrates some of the world’s most iconic and endangered animals, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds to combat poaching in partnership with the @bornfreefoundation. #RememberingElephants was released in 2016, with #RememberingRhinos following in 2017. We’re thrilled to announce that this image, shot on safari by NWS client Richard Denyer, will feature in the latest edition: #RememberingGreatApes.
In addition to giants of the industry who donated their images to ‘Remembering Great Apes’, a competition was held for other photographers who wished to contribute their work to the title. Over 1,000 submissions were received, and from this pool only Richard’s image, along with those from nine other photographers, were selected for inclusion. These playful mountain gorilla twins will now appear alongside images from such esteemed wildlife photographers as @brentstirton, @franslanting and @artwolfe.
We sat down for a quick Q&A with Richard – a veteran of 27 expeditions with Natural World Safaris – to find out more about his winning image, his passion for wildlife photography, and what makes our trips so special. Click the link in our bio to give it a read.
