Yesterday (Friday 19th) we received 3 boxes from the UK. Very well wrapped, weighty boxes. When we opened them we were overcome with emotion.
A very dear, old friend of mine, Sarah O´Connor and her husband Mike, had recently suffered the loss of two of their most precious doggy babies, TJ and Whiskey. TJ was just days ago and Whiskey a while before.
Sarah contacted me and asked if my babies could use TJ and Whisk´s old belongings.
We were all blown away by not only the quality and quantity of the items but what struck us all quite deeply was the sense of loss and the difficulty Sarah and Mike must have had in packaging everything up so carefully and thoughtfully. We could sense the memories attached to each and every item.
As a sanctuary, we have to deal with the loss of our loved ones quite regularly, it is the hardest part of sanctuary life. When opening the boxes from Sarah and Mike we could all share in their grief but also, more importantly, share in their love and attention that they so obviously showered their beloved TJ and Whiskey in.
Thank you Sarah and Mike from each and everyone of us and I hope it gives you consolation and happiness to know that your love for TJ and Whiskey does indeed live on and stretch further as our babies at the Ridge will get to enjoy the beautiful jumpers and coats and harnesses etc that you have donated.
WE ALL LOVE YOU XX
