God loves it when on paper, it looks as if the odds are stacked against you. I was reminded of this, this week when I was reading the story of when Gideon and the Israelites defeated the Midianites. The Midianites had an army of 135,000 men while the Israelites had an army of only 32,000 men. Despite being outmanned more than 4 men to 1, God told Gideon he had too many warriors and that with their current numbers, when the Israelites won, they would boast that they won by their own might. He thus downsized the Israelite army to only 300 men. This left the Israelite army outnumbered 450 men to 1! However, with God’s help, they demolished the Midianite army. God will place us in situations that leave us without a doubt that it was only by His help that we achieved the victory. When your MCAT score, your GPA, your Step scores etc. etc. etc. don’t seem like enough to get you to where you want to be, remember, God loves it that way because when you look back at how you made it anyway, you will remember you didn’t do it on your own. Stay encouraged because God loves a good underdog story just like the rest of us.
