Back and Light Biceps today to finish off my last workout on the island. I’ll be heading back to Binghamton tonight which means the semester is on the horizon. On a side note, whoever thought that hex plates would be a good idea deserves nothing but hell.

Light deadlifts today at the middle of my session. As of recent, I haven’t been starting my sessions with deadlifts. I’ve changed up my form to a lot more of a controlled pull as opposed to explosiveness. I like how it feels. I obviously can’t go as heavy, but I feel as if I get more out of the movement and I get less lumbar pain. That’s a win in my book.

I want to talk abt a few things to be mindful of when deadlifting. First of all I see ppl making lots of unsafe mistakes with this lift and it could really injury you. Let me start off with saying u must understand how to properly queue your body so that your form is good.
First thing the flatter your feet are the better. It allows you to not only drive threw the floor but to also grip it when u drive up. So no shoes or flat shoes. Next how far are u from the bar? I like to have my toes under the bars shadow. Or u can line the bar up with your shoe string bow.
Now the hips. A lot of ppl think the hips should be as low as squats. That depth will force u to compensate with more upper body. That's when I see ppl trying to pull the weight with their arms instead. I knw you've seen those bicep tear videos. Arms need to be relaxed.
Now the shoulders. Most ppl round their shoulders forward which also gives u a rounded back. The back will round just a little the heavier the weight which is ok. Keep the shoulders back u can see me doing this is my video. It engages the lats.
Last but not least. You do not need to lock out on every rep. Locking out burns the lower back. If u are repping there's no need to lock out. It spares the back.
I'm not posting this to start a arguement or debate. So if u have any opinions your entitled to them. Keep it clean. I'm just trying to help ppl get better. These things have really helped me this past year with my own deadlift. I'm not with the shits today ok! .

“O death, don’t bother me tonight” Haven’t posted in a while, because it was deload last week and just getting into this week, but wanted to show something so this is a short clip of 415x1 on 2” deficit - top deload set. Really focusing on hip shoot here because I have a tendency to go way too far down into the bar. Trying to stay up and against the bar while pulling everything at the same time. Felt like this finally looked solid and I want to keep working to perfect this, it’s an important que that has held me back from my potential in deadlift. If I can push myself to nail this and not have to think about the technique during the pull, I know the reps will start to be more consistent and smooth.
