Kamba Village — For over a year, superstition prevented Kashibai from seeking help for vision troubles until she came to a PRASAD Chikitsa screening camp. Now she happily wears her protective sunglasses after her recovery from cataract surgery and plans to return for corrective surgery in the other eye. She is grateful and intends to spread the word to her neighbors about PRASAD Chikitsa. #theprasadproject#india#eyehealth#philanthropy#restoringvision
In addition to immediately #transforming people's lives, one of the greatest benefits of adding glasses to your mission is that no professional training or equipment is required, and you can simply take the glasses in suitcases or ship them! Reading glasses are organized, packed, and ready for our summer missions!!! @medmissnoutrch will be traveling to Fiji, The Philippines, The Ivory Coast, Panama, Tanzania & Honduras before summers over! Pray that each pair is put to good use as God works through our ministry to share HIS Love!!! #thereisahealer#medicalmissions#restoringvision
In impoverished communities, where near vision tasks other than reading and writing are predominant, reading glasses have a substantial impact on quality of life. In these communities, near vision is needed for weaving, counting money, reading dials, helping children with homework, and more. More info, visit: https://restoringvision.org/why-glasses.
We love to receive messages from our partners about their mission trips and the people they helped! "Thank you for your help in my recent mission trip to Iquitos Peru and the Amazon. We served 1,349 indigenous Peruvians and provided 450 pairs of reading glasses with the aid of RestoringVision." - Jodi F., Peru Medical Outreach. April 2018.
Laser Cataract Surgery (step 2 of 2): After using the laser to create an opening in the capsule in which the cataract lives, soften the cataract, and possibly treat astigmatism, we then are able to remove the cloudy cataract using less energy. Laser preparation of the eye allows us to perform the last steps of the surgery with greater precision, accuracy and safety. #lovewhatido#restoringvision#eyesurgery#cataract#lasersurgery#eyesofla
Over 500 million people live in developing countries with near vision impairment due to the lack of access to available, affordable reading glasses. Let's help them see clearly again so that they can lead productive lives!
"Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.” - Elizabeth Andrew
A BIG shout-out to all of our volunteers from @walmart, @lifesmarteducation2010 and @eckerdconnects for helping us sort 16,000 reading glasses last week during the first Volunteer Day of the year! Thank you for all your work and support.
These cute glasses from Baxter Blue just arrived. They are non-prescription glasses which reduce digital eye strain and filter blue violet light. I don't usually do these posts but this little Aussie company donates an extra pair of reading glasses to RestoringVision. Check their website out if you look at a computer most of the day or want to improve your sleep @baxterblue_#baxterblueeyewear#restoringvision#baxterblue#bluelight#bluelightglasses

We are thrilled to present to you RestoringVision's new organizational identity!
We have updated our Mission and Vision to reflect our growth and support the direction that we are heading to transform the lives of many more millions of people in need. Additionally, we also formally stated our Philosophy and Values to reflect our principles and beliefs. Swipe to see them!
A traditional #cataractsurgery procedure ....hard to believe, not long ago, this was considered the most advanced approach to cataract surgery. Now laser application has replaced many of the steps traditionally done by hand and in turn laser offers a gentler, and far more precise approach to surgery. I appreciate being part of the generation of surgeons who has seen the evolution of technique and as such built my surgical expertise and armamentarium through it. To be a champion for our patients , we must stay committed to advances in our field....it makes us better surgeons and our day to day so very fulfilling (and more fun )! #patientsfirst#lovewhatyoudo#ophthalmology#eyesurgeon#restoringvision#eyesofla
RestoringVision is excited to announce its first Volunteer Day of the year! It will take place on March 10, 2018 at our warehouse in Lockbourne, OH. Stay tuned to see which organizations are volunteering with us on this wonderful day!
We are thrilled to announce that we have reached our biggest milestone having helped over 10 million people around the world see and live better!
A BIG THANK YOU to:
-Our Partners in the field who take glasses overseas and put them on the faces of people who need them.
-Our Sponsors and Donors who make contributions to support the work we do.
-Our friends and supporters who help us raise awareness about RestoringVision, the need for reading glasses and the impact that these have on people's lives.
Without your continued support, this wouldn’t have been possible.
Thank you for transforming the lives of 10 million people through the gift of sight!
My wonderful patient who had a full corneal transplant followed by #laser#cataract surgery is now (a week after this video) seeing 20/20 without glasses....he had been reliant on glasses for over 60 years! (Posted with patient permission) I was asked why I chose Ophthalmology.....the answer is simple! No other field gives you the privilege of witnessing the joy of restoring, efficiently and reliably, one of the most important senses we have. And to be able to give our patients such results using exciting advances in technology makes our day to day all the more exhilarating! #lovemypatients#dowhatyoulove#cornealtransplant#restoringvision#blessed#ophthalmologist#keratoconus#eyesofla
Partner's Day! Today we want to acknowledge our 1,400 partners. They are our strength. They help us leave a positive footprint all over the world. Thanks to all of you for partnering with us and making the world a better place for people in need of glasses!
You made this happen! In 2017, we were able to transform the lives of 3.3 million people in need around the world. Thank you for your support. Here is to continuing to make great things happen in 2018!
Adjusting a continuous suture in a corneal transplant done six weeks prior. Meticulous attention to wound construction, suture placement, and postoperative suture adjustment can lead to amazing results merely weeks after a corneal transplant. This patient could barely see the big E on the eye chart before surgery and soon after this adjustment was made could see the 20/30 line (two lines shy of 20/20) without any glasses!!!! Nothing is more rewarding than experiencing the joy of patients when they regain their vision after years of not seeing. #keratoconus#dalk#restoringvision#lovewhatido#ophthalmologist#eyesurgeon#eyesofla
We received this beautiful testimonial from Jim Warmboard, MD of Charter - "We have been using glasses from RestoringVision for several years. I have been going to Honduras since 1998. It is always exciting to see the looks on the people's eyes when they put the correct power glasses on and are able to see clearly for the first time In many years. Many times we use the Bible for them to read from but we also use the material from RestoringVision. I cannot thank you enough for the glasses at a good price for us to take to the poorest of the poor in Honduras" #readingglasses#transforminglives#restoringvision#glasseschangelives#glasses#missiontrip#testimonial#instagood#instamoments

Partial corneal transplant (DSEK) under a failed full thickness transplant (PKP). One of the most impactful applications of endothelial keratoplasty or replacing the endothelial pump layer of the cornea is in reviving a failed full thickness transplant that had been functional for the patient for years prior to its late failure. In approaching these cases with a #customcornealtransplant, we can promise our patients a much faster vision recovery and a far safer surgery. #ilovewhatido#ophthalmologist#couturecornea#cornealtransplant#restoringvision#eyesofla

The ripple effect of giving the gift of sight is that when you provide a pair of reading glasses to a person in need, you are immediately and positively impacting that person's life, the well being of his/her family and community, and the global economy at large. #GlassesTransformLives
Rocking my new @baxterblue_ specs Excuse the shameless selfie but these guys are amazing AND they donate free reading glasses to #RestoringVision for tagged pics so it’s all for a good cause!
#BaxterBlue are designed to remove harmful blue light from your computer screens and electronic devices - I’ve been testing them on nightshift this week and have definitely noticed a difference. Working 16 hour days in Data Analytics usually leaves me with super tired, sore, red & itchy eyes, but so far this week I’ve noticed much less redness and no noticeable discomfort. They’ll be glued to my face from now on!
Thank you to all of our partners, their teams and volunteers, for providing reading glasses to people in need. Without your support, moments like this wouldn't be possible!
