SYRE by Jaden Smith Album Review
SYRE surprised me if I’m going to be honest. I’ve never been too keen on Jaden Smith in general as a musician because he’s literally a living meme plus all the songs I’ve heard him on he’s so passionless and boring. Luckily, it’s different on SYRE. Much different. The debut album delivers some of the best production of the year for starters which surprised me greatly. Jaden even gives emotion into his songs which is great. There’s some actual great songs on this album and I like the overall feel of it too. But besides the great instrumentals, feel, and songs there are some negatives. For one, there aren’t really any “bad” songs just average or meh that drag the album down a bit. Jaden Smith also brings down the album with some weak bars but it’s made up for in delivery/execution and his flow as well as the incredible instrumentals. It’s also a bit too long. 17 songs with some going 6+ minutes is a lot of music and not all of it fits or works. Overall though, I enjoyed it but it has it’s issues. This album, if anything, shows one thing for Jaden Smith... potential.
