I recently made a very humble donation to @villalobosrescuecenterofficial, as I do from time to time. The humans of this rescue are in the trenches. Every. Day. They are real life heroes. Overlooked by the rush of a world dying to escape itself and its pain. Overlooked like the dogs they serve.
I am always humbled, touched, and in awe by the way they have said over the years and continue to say, "thank you." Opening this thank you tonight, caused me to #pause. To really pause. To hold this photo card in my hand, feeling *all* of it's energy - the heartbreak, emotional and physical pain, the joys, the sorrow, the anger (or may that's my own), and the deep, deep love. As I held my pause I wonder about the history of the building and the steps supporting Tia and Lucky. I suspect this building has witnessed some of our *real* history - the ugly history, not just the "good" (pretend?) history we learn in schools. This rescue, it's humans in the weeds and trenches, and it's dogs are our *real * history too.
We hurt others in the rush to hide or numb our own pain. May we all heal and #RiseHigher...
#VRC I see you and I thank you from the depths of my soul. I send you light. And I send you hope for the change that is coming....and for the day when you don't have to rescue anymore. ♡
