Jung Joon Young Reportedly Owes Agency More Than 300 Million Won In Damages; Agency Responds
Jung Joon Young may owe his former agency MAKEUS Entertainment over 300 hundred million won (approximately $263,247) in damages.
Last March, just two months after Jung Joon Young first signed with MAKEUS Entertainment in January, the agency terminated his contract after it came to light that he had illegally filmed and shared footage of sexual activity.
On April 23, Korean news outlet Ilgan Sports reported that Jung Joon Young currently owes MAKEUS Entertainment a significant amount of money. According to the report, the singer received an advance of 300 hundred million won (approximately $263,247) from the agency upon the signing of his exclusive contract, with the understanding that he would be making music and contributing to the creation of various types of content under his new label.
However, because none of these plans came to fruition during his brief time at the agency, the report stated that Jung Joon Young is now required to return that sum. He also reportedly owes the agency an additional amount in damages.
According to Ilgan Sports, MAKEUS Entertainment responded to the report by expressing a reluctance to continue being associated with Jung Joon Young. A source at the agency commented, “It’s difficult for us to state our position. Please understand.” A representative of the agency similarly told media outlet News1, “It is difficult for us to confirm the truth [of the report].” Meanwhile, Jung Joon Young, who was recently indicted with detention, will be attending his first hearing on May 10. He is also currently being investigated by the police over allegations of sexual assault.
