MEET ONE OF MY ROLE MODELS!
Today I want to introduce you to @garrettfear. I actually know very little about Garrett other than the fact that I’d like to deadlift more like him. Today, I’d like to use this post to make a few comments about finding good role models for yourself:
• First, your role models should be similar, but better than you. And of course at first glance, Garrett is nothing like me: he’s 22 years old, much stronger and more jakked than I am, and he also has calves. With that being said however, he is the same height as me and with similar promotions.
• I use Garrett as a model only for deadlift technique - if you watch him pull, you’ll notice that, due to his proportions, he (like me) starts with very high hips. BUT he does so better than I do. In other words, Garrett’s deadlift technique is a superior, idealized version of my own.
• And of course, Garrett is far stronger than me, and your role models should of course be better (but ideally not unattainably) better than you.
• CRIB NOTES: Seek out many different role models to inspire you in different areas of your life. These people should be similar (i.e., relatable) to you but (attainable) better. In other words, they should be inspirational but also aspirational. Garrett, I hope you’re not embarrassed that I called you out like this, and I hope more people will follow and be inspired by your amazing lifting! #rolemodel #powerlifting #garrettfear #gymmotivation #inspiration #rolemodels #gyminspiration #powerliftingmotivation #gymmemes #deadlifttillimdead #squatuniversity #onlinecoaching #leadbyexample #bettereveryday #getinspired #greatness #excellence
