Do you HAVE to measure/track your food intake?

The answer, of course, is it depends. Many prefer being more precise and will use a food scale. To those people, the extra time spent being precise is a good tradeoff. It may also he beneficial to those just getting started.
#
For others, eyeballing their food amounts is good enough. The tradeoff of being less precise is worth it to them. This is a good tool to use for veteran dieters.
#
At the end of the day, people place different values to time and precision. Be aware of the tradeoffs and make the right choice for you!

Here's Morgans story... Hey guys, my name is Morgan Vissering. Iโ€™m 35 years old and Iโ€™m a Stay at home mom to my two boys. I started my CrossFit journey 2 years ago. Since Iโ€™ve started CrossFit Iโ€™ve lost 80 lbs and have gained strength, confidence, friendships, moral support, and so much guidance. Getting serious about dropping the โ€œbabyโ€ weight which is more like toddler weight lol. Tracking my macros following the #rpdiet for fat loss. This is what 25g protein, 25g carbs, and 5g fats looks like (I hope...learning curve on weighing and arithmetic lol). So itโ€™s egg whites, 1 slice of bread, zucchini noodles (no I will not call them zoodles) and leftover cut apple that my toddler didnโ€™t eat ๐Ÿ˜‚. Iโ€™ve completed one week of the base part of the template and a few things have come up as realizations: 1. I was undereating by a lot prior to starting with healthy choices when I ate but then binging on treats bc technically I had the calories to account for it. 2. I was using coffee to suppress my appetite and just work to avoid taking breaks like a human being 3. I no longer feel like I got hit by a bus and have zero energy. 4. Iโ€™ve never cooked this much consistently in my life ๐Ÿคฃ! While I expect things to get more difficult as I progress, so far things are going well and Iโ€™m surprised.

The day before.
I have had my RP template for awhile now and have started the program close to probably 6 times.

What usually happens is the first week is great then when I make it to the weekend of the second week things start to fall apart I miss a meal, eat takeout, forget to food prep and then eat crap on the Monday.
This is then followed by usually 2-3 weeks of poor food choices mixed with some ok eating.

Rinse and repeat and that is what I have done for close to a year now. Upright rows are like the red headed step child of delt training. They get a bad rap for wrecking shoulders and and ruining lifes, but if you can do them pain free then shut up about it and do them.

Only do a ROM that you can do pain free. I do them this way, pulling slightly in front of my body and up very high because IT DOESN'T HURT but if I do the whole stop to the nipple line I get about 1 set before my shoulders hate me for a week.

95lbs for 10,10,8,8 3RIR here. Nothing fancy, nothing to crazy.

Crazy to think a few years back I didn't think I'd ever be able to do pull-up. It seemed like such an impossible feat to me.

Yet now I'm programming the for sets with reps in the tank. Hit 8,8,6 for 3rir. Probably 2rir on this set. Rush the set a bit. But regardless I'm happy to be able to do them, and this is by far the most I've ever been able to do at this weight.

Did some pull-downs, db rows, and biceps following these. Nothing to fancy or exciting. Just more of the same.

Not until I realized I was the only one who was going to make the decisions everyday to reach my goals. Every choice would either bring me closer or farther away from achieving them. It was this mentality I took on to crush every goal I set. I'm not where I want to be yet, and I've had plenty of set backs. But I keep in mind that even if I slip, every decision after that is a chance to redeem myself and get back on track. Update on RP โค๏ธ I am now on maintenance and itโ€™s been about a week. My low was 120 and Iโ€™ve been sitting between 121.5 and 122.3. I am content with this weight. We have to remember where we started! I started at 135 and now Iโ€™m at 121/122. There are days where I feel like I look and feel like I am back at the 135 weight, definitely a mental thing, but I am so proud! Going to be on maintenance and then before my wedding next year I will do another cut! Today's #streetparking wod and #sp power is on my igstories , iv been super strict this week after my weekend iv more less normalized in weight and so happy I had given my extra end goal room for fluctuations like iv said before and I'm still on the lower end! but I didn't start on my rp cut like I said because I didn't give myself a chance to prepare on the weekend, iv been following my jacked by June template just because it's been what I have been used to these past weeks so I find it very easy to pick back up on it but yeah, so iv been making myself some sample meal plans for next week when I start my cut and it seems a little easier once I have it written out on paper. Well this is a plus at least.
I've never really done dips much, they've always hurt my shoulders and I sick at them.

But did 3 sets today for my upper body arm emphasis session and they felt great and this was a volume PR and the heaviest weight I've ever tried to do them at.
So small victories FTW.

I almost didn't post this because I've been struggling a lot recently. I spend a few months really limited due to injury but it had finally been feeling 100% for over a month so I was excited to go into this new meso, then Monday during bjj in stepped funny to avoid a take down and something in my hip popped and the pain has flared up again. It's not as bad, but it was very disheartening.
Anyway, I'm still training and just training around it. I even drove an extra 10ish minutes to a different gym just to use them machine. The hammer strength seated leg press. If you follow @nunez3dmj you've surly seen him using the isolateral version of this bad boy, but let me tell you this thing feels GOOOOD. Great strength curve for a leg press and talk about ROM for days. Every gym needs this kinda leg press.

Anyway, light work here for single leg. Even lighter cause of the hip giving some issues but still getting some work in.

This year I have slowly been learning that nutrition is everything. โ€œYou canโ€™t out work a bad dietโ€ or even a โ€œmediocre dietโ€ definitely makes more sense seeing my transition thus far. Still a long ways to go but not only do I feel ๐Ÿ’ฏ better than before since focusing on nutrition, but I have started performing better in all realms of my fitness, as well as my mental โ€œgameโ€. Credit to @dugasm : First day of @rpstrength vs. the end of week twelve of fat loss. I went from 175 down to 152 and I never had to get off of Fat Loss two. Never lost any strength in fact a few of my lifts went up. After I finish my Matinance I plan on getting on muscle gain and get my numbers up. Thank you @rpstrength I feel better than I have ever in my life.

Credit to @ohhlittleana : The hardest part about dieting and losing weight is keeping the weight off. @rpstrength provides with information and guidelines for after your finish dieting to ensure you maintain the results you worked so hard to obtain. I been on โ€œNew Baseโ€ for a month and a half post my 3-month cut with RP, Iโ€™ve had cheat meals Iโ€™ve added snacks and been a little less strict and been able to maintain my results. Dieting and eating healthy doesnโ€™t have to be hard. If you been hesitant about starting RP you shouldnโ€™t, there is really no better time to start than now.
