Staying fit is not easy. It is simple to do, we all know what we need to do, but dedicating time to do it can be challenging for most people including myself. If I could give you tips on what I have done that has worked for me are:
1. Try @kaylaitsines Sweat app, a personal trainer on your phone. Every week there are different exercises to do, it only takes 30 minutes of your time, and you can do it at home with no equipment. There are even different programs e.g. gym exercises, post-natal etc. It is like Netflix for fitness. And it works! I work out 5 days a week. 30 minutes is really only ‘2%’ of your time each day.
2. Stop weighing yourself or weigh occasionally, instead track what you eat, how much exercise you do and seeing the results in the mirror or how you fit in clothes. I actually weigh more now than ever before, but yet I look toner and can still fit in all my size 8 clothes. My bone mass is bigger than most girls and muscles weigh more than fat
3. Eat whatever you like but in small portions and keep a balance. When I used to ban myself from eating certain foods, I ended up craving more and binged eat. Nowadays if I have a big lunch, I would eat less for dinner. If I go out for a big dinner the day before, the next day I would eat better and less. Just balance bad days with good days.
4. Change your belief. I used to tell myself that “I can’t do it”. Exercise doesn’t work for me, cos I’m somehow different from others. I changed it to: “if others can do it I can do it too.” “I know I can get there, I just need to keep doing and don’t give up.”
When you feel lazy, remind yourself it’s only 30 minutes. Remind yourself how good it feels after you have done your exercise.
