Favorite Jax Road Race - Festival of lights
I started running in Elementary school in the early 90's doing races on the weekend. At first it was just a thing for me and my mom to do together I would run she would speed walk. First big race was the '91 gate river run when it finished by the gator bowl. We joined @Jtcrunning and @Floridastriders to find more races to do. As we raced more I got faster and I started to compete in the Jax Grand Prix and started doing well even winning an A/G award at the end of the season. As I grew up so did the running community in Jax. Races got bigger, faster competition moved here, new clubs started up making for faster Races. I've never been on a track team, never trained with anyone full time, never been coached. Everyone I have run with or against has helped me get to where I am. Pushing me to train harder to compete. Running is my meditation, it has kept me out of trouble opened up so many doors for me and taking me to lots of places. Running has changed my life by the people I have met, coached, motivated and competed with.
