***FORM FRIDAY*** Dumbbell Snatch

1️⃣ Grab and hold a dumbbell in your right or left hand at mid-shin level with your knees bent and a slight hinge in your hips.

2️⃣ Pull the weight up as you explosive up and straighten your knees and hips. (If you stand on your tiptoes, np)
3️⃣ As the weight reaches shoulder height, extend your right arm straight up. That's 1 rep!

4️⃣ Continue to 8-12 reps and switch arms.

Fats taste the best, for serious. -
But also can be bad for your health and also derail your progress towards your goals (specifically fat loss/weight loss).

These slide from top left to bottom right in terms of caloric density. Obviously the more refined and predominantly fatty the food is, the higher the calories.
-
Fat is 9 calories per gram, whereas protein and carbs are both 4 calories per gram.
-
This makes it super easy to get too many calories quickly from fat.
-
I am NOT saying don’t eat fat, I AM saying to be mindful of how much and how quickly you are consuming fat. It adds up quick!

Okay ladies this post is for you. I have been guilty of this but I want to set the record straight for you. YOU WILL NOT GET BULKY OR LOOK LIKE A DUDE FROM LIFTING HEAVY!!!! .
.
Is it just not possible because you don’t have enough testosterone to make you bulky!! You have about as much as a 5 year old boy! If you start lifting heavier and feel like you’re looking bulky it’s probably due to blood volume in your muscles and swelling!
.
.
Back when I used to go to the gym, I would spend the majority of my time on the hamster wheel (treadmill or elliptical machine) and was afraid to lift weights because I thought my arms would get too big! .
.
So don’t be afraid of lifting weights or going heavy! Strength training actually burns more calories and for longer than cardio! .
.
Now I say bring on all of the muscles!!!

I am so freaking proud of my friend and coach @belcher1979! She did a thing and completed 80 Day Obsession! She is a freaking rockstar!

Yesterday the @pure_barre communities of Richmond, @purebarre_rva_nwe and @purebarre_midlothian , came together to raise $10,000 for the Emily Couric Cancer Center in honor of @ep_and_me’s FINAL chemo treatment. There are simply no words to express the gratitude my family and I feel. This community continues to amaze me-from our fearless leaders and incredible teammates, to our clients who have become our family. Thank you is too simple. Day 24/80: 💪ABS🍑

I really like this workout and using all of the equipment (weights, loops and sliders). .

I saw a thing once that said “I don’t want to be skinny, I want to look like I can kick your 🍑

This is exactly how I feel 😜! I don’t workout everyday to be skinny! I workout everyday because it helps me be a better wife and mom, it helps improve my mood, it helps me balance how I feel towards my nutrition, AND it helps me become STRONG 💪

I love having muscles and I work really hard to get them! I love feeling strong and my boys thinking my muscles are big 😀
.

I work hard at this healthy lifestyle because of how it makes me feel more than how it makes me look! And it’s something that you have to work at every single day and it’s not always easy! You don’t finish a workout program and that’s it! You don’t reach a goal of losing however many pounds and that’s it! You are always a work in progress and have room to grow!

So that’s why I share my journey, successes and struggles! I want you to know that you can do this as a mom, whether it’s the stay at home kind or the working kind!! EVERYONE has time to fit in time for yourself! You just have to make yourself a priority!
