LAOS AT LAST | Kuang Si Falls (Luang Prabang, Laos)
How I got to Kuang Si Falls is really funny. I just flagged a random songthaew (tuktuk) filled with four caucasians in the busy intersection near UNESCO plaque, asked the driver if they were going to Kuang Si and if I could join them. Luckily, they were and they did allow me to join for only 50,000 Kip (roughly 6 Usd or 300 Php), five hours all in all, back and forth.
Going to Kuang Si Falls from Luang Prabang, you can hire your own tuktuk (at least 200,000 Kip or 25 Usd for five to six pax, good up to five hours), join a tour group on a van or bus (around 20 Usd, around 2 hours in the waterfalls), rent a motorbike (100,000 Kip or 12 Usd per day) or join a Mekong River cruise going there (around 500,000 Kip or 60 Usd, BBQ lunch included). There is also a local way of commuting to the waterfalls but timing/schedule can be a problem. If you are alone, I suggest you join a group to save cost or like me, flag a random tuktuk and ask if they are heading there. Haha.
Go there early morning to avoid the crowd.
