Talking is among the most dangerous things people do, and listening is the most infrequent. This can result in conflict that needs a solution. Through the practice of "Safe Conversations," (a structured dialogue process that Harville Hendrix, PhD and Helen LaKelly Hunt, PhD developed) we help people experience safety in all conversations, shifting the perspective from the individual to the relationship. We empower people with the tools to talk without criticism, listen without judgment and connect beyond our differences. This helps people build healthy relationships.
In this one-day workshop, participants will learn this new way to talk that makes conversation safe and achieves connection, and they will be introduced to the new relationship and brain science that supports it.
How we interact with each other is the key to our emotional, physical and economic health. By teaching a process that facilitates relational change, we aim to establish healthy relationships as a high value which will foster stability and peace.
This introductory instructional level course is designed to:
1. Describe the Safe Conversations model and list the principles.
2. Describe Imago Relationship Theory and Therapy.
3. Examine the neuroscience principles of the Safe Conversations model.
4. Practice the strategies outlined in the Safe Conversation manual.
