As you know, I love love. I love seeing small gestures of PDA. Like seeing couples holding hands or that little hug while waiting at the traffic lights. It’s all things Matt and I do (I am so clingy) and it’s all so cute. But I REALLY love when I see these small gestures between same sex couples. Today I walked behind two women holding pinkies and then rubbing each other on the back before intertwining fingers again and looking at each other with such warmth. My heart almost exploded out of my face and all over them.
I feel a few things about this. It is sad that I can count the number of same sex couples I’ve seen holding hands in a public space on one hand and heterosexual couples is something I don’t even count. While it’s amazing that since same sex marriage has been legalised in Aus, more couples feel more comfortable in public, it’s sad that it’s still so rare and that the outdoors is still an intimidating place when you just want to squeeze your lover around the head while waiting for the green man. I understand PDA isn’t for every couple, no matter your gender or sexuality, but I can’t wait to see more of it and for it to be an everyday occurrence for the LGBTIQ communities/the community as a whole. I just want to be like “what a cute couple having a back rub” . Instead of “oh my gosh I just saw two men holding hands and it was the best oh my gosh, YYYESSSSSSS”. Because I’m sure having my heart explode out of my face and onto their face also isn’t the attention people want. I just want it to be normal for everyone because it’s so lovely. But anyway, I have a cold and can’t execute my words, but I’m just saying. Hold hands. Rub backs. When your husband won’t commit to holding your hand, make him hold your thumb. Don’t be a dickhead. Yay for love for everyone who is in love (or lust). Here is Tenille and Sian. I love them.
