It is crazy to think that as popular as glute training is in fitness right now, most people are just throwing the kitchen sink at the glutes calling it effective. That is sad because working the body hard doesn’t mean you are making the body better. If you want results, even when it comes to the #glutes , you have to know how the glutes are suppose to work and how smarter exercises can create faster and better results.
1️⃣ Our glutes are connected to the action of our feet. While #hipthrusts can build a baseline with being on the ground, they don’t challenge our glutes to the highest levels because our body is made to move in life and in life we move by standing on our feet. Even on the hip bridge teaching people to drive into their feet instead of lifting with their hips will create more glute and core strength. @dvrtfitness_uk shows a smarter way to perform hip bridges by connecting the core with the grip and lifts/chops of the Ultimate #Sandbag . The @perform_better mini band around the feet while marching reinforces driving the feet while also challenging the glutes to work not allowing unwanted movement side to side.
2️⃣ Teaching the glutes to work synergistically with the core, hamstrings, feet, and even the lats allows us to develop a body that performs as well as it looks! What the great #DVRT exercises that @rachcosgrove , @bryannnnamarie , @larisalotz show is how we use the dynamic nature of stepping and acceleration to challenge stability of the pelvis and especially the glutes and core. Learning to accelerate, decelerate, change direction, be powerful, be stable, are the attributes of the glutes that we just don’t talk enough about!
3️⃣ If we want to develop a body that can live strong, then we have to realize how the body works. Ignoring the function of the body is what can limit us in the results we can achieve in the #gym as well as how resilient we can be to injury. Using #functionalfitness is not a buzzword to perform novel exercises, but rather drills that help teach the body to perform the way it was designed to work in life!
