I swear every single time I watch this film my opinion of it changes and I'm pretty sure this is my most watched MCU film to date, another viewing in and I am still unsure as to where to stand. Age of Ultron see's the birth of an AI system created by Stark and Banner built as a peacekeeping programme, but once it has life, Ultron sees creating this peace as world destruction and that the human race needs to evolve, so it's up to the Avengers and their new recruits to stop the mess they made and once again save the world. But it's much more than this, the film is riddled from start to finish with cameos, easter eggs, references and foreshadowing towards the extended Marvel Universe, and it does this so well, you look at films released after this that you can link back, then by the time you've seen AOU the past films it all links together seamlessly. Though it's a strong focus to the film which is truly immersive fan experience but draws you away from all the rest that's going on. The story is weak, it's mirroring Assemble (or The Avengers) with many attempts tries to be better, sometimes it works but it just isn't better. With a grander scale and more characters it does what it should, but Ultron following in the path of Loki wasn't a good choice, performance and dialogue wise too. However the films heroes, once again, are truly brilliant, charming and lovable; but the forcing of Nat n Banner becomes cringey over time, some blatant over sexualisation of female characters is at its worse in the Marvel films and it just isn't worth it. For the most part I find it much more enjoyable to watch, then there are a few dips at times but I liked it a bit more this time around? Strange because last time I watched (and reviewed) it I didn't like it as much. -
