⚪️⚪️⚪️EXHIBITION ARCHITECTURE FOR LAURE PROUVOST – AM-BIG-YOU-US LEGSICON @mhkamuseum
Laure Prouvost’s Lexicon of Ambiguity, has been the starting point and defining design factor for her first retrospective exhibition at Museum of Contemporary Art in Antwerp. Using spatial subjectivity and dislocation as the main driver of the design, the visitor is presented with scattered layout, allowing it for a fictitious sense freedom.
The long collaboration with Laure Prouvost has brought to this project an intense thinking process and an emotionally charged narrative. Bouncing from these experiences and conservations, the design functions as navigational framework where visitors occasionally have full spatial perception or are physically challenged to take action, discover, trespass, lean under or only peak through.
This maze like setting, has been the biggest construction at M HKA until date and through a cirurgical intervention we have dissected and transplanted parts of the already eccentric 90s floorpan, allowing us to formulate a sequential but abrupt viewing experience, where all rooms have different scales and levels of intimacy.
Like an octopus, we will be following Laure Prouvost to Venice, working closely with her and studio on an immersive design for French Pavillon at the 58th Arte Biennale .
