Well, it’s officially summer, as evidenced by my desk - end of the term vs. summer ready (last week vs yesterday). Also, building reading lists for two new classes in the fall: nonfiction writing and classics of science fiction (film & literature). Nonfiction is winning, but it’ll be a sci-fi-filled summer! (Also, open to recommendations for any sci-fi favorites....) #nonfictionwriting#nonfictionbooks#scifi#scifiliterature#scificlassics
I just finished Brave New World by Aldous Huxley for the first time. My initial thoughts are I'm glad I read it but it was tough to process. I appreciate Huxley's commentary on spirituality, instant gratification, and human psychology in general. The dystopia he built was fascinating and well-reasoned. The philosophical back-and-forth was fun but dull at the same time. I liked how the characters used Shakespeare as a kind of philosopher but it took me a while to process the meaning and point they were making. Overall, interesting read but not something I read for pleasure.
#netflixtime#netflixmovie#review#moviereview
