This is one of those photos that 6 months ago I would not have thought to share. It’s not the kind of photo that most would call “insta-worthy”... there’s no pretty light or flare, no cute kiddie expression or any of the other things that would make it a photo likely to make people stop their scroll & give it a double-tap. But in an effort to be more true to myself I’m posting it anyway, because the story it tells me, and the memory I’ve captured here is something that I value. Why? Let me break it down...
This image captures a side of Punky’s personality & age/stage that I want to remember. This image shows Punky’s “let me tell you how to do something” stance, the hand on the cocked hip, the pointing finger as she tells Dave what he should be doing to catch a fish, despite the fact she’s never caught a fish herself! At almost 7 she’s still secure in the knowledge that she knows everything, she knows how things should be done, and she’s not afraid to tell you! That’s what this image shows me, and I can’t wait to pull it out in 10, 20 years time and show her just what a beautiful, confident, forthright child she was.
