Time to get real about skincare. It really is true that you are what you eat. Last year, I was sick constantly. I had to go on multiple rounds of antibiotics and as a response, my body’s natural biome suffered. I wasn’t eating well, I didn’t take care of myself, and I’ve been picking up the pieces ever since
After using a steroid ointment on my face for a small rash, I developed a persistent case of perioral dermatitis (swipe to see what my face looked like for almost 3 months). Everything up until that point just snowballed together and I was left with a horrible skin mess. There’s no known cause, there’s no known solution, and it’s really, really hard to get rid of. I was devastated but my PD was like a loud alarm screeching at me that I needed to stop neglecting my health.
So... I started and completed my first #whole30, drank celery juice every morning, and changed my skincare routine. I think I read about 500 different articles and forums about PD. I now rarely use harsh or abrasive skincare products around my mouth/nose and I’ve learned what foods are skin “triggers.” Finally, I cured my PD naturally! I still have small PD and acne outbreaks and I still don’t know the exact cause of my dermatitis, but I’ve taken steps to heal my body 💕
If you’ve struggled or struggle with this, I’d be happy to chat with you about what helped me more in-depth! The first pic is of my healed skin. I’m never taking it for granted again 🥰
