Last night’s films. While I had planned on “My Bloody Valentine”(1981) and the Canadian beer Moosehead that gets plastered all through it (Dad drank it back in the day); unfortunately, my grocery store no longer carries it, so that tossed the plan out the window . . Had purchased this on Blu for a Black Friday sale and not gotten around to it, so thought, “eh what the hell?” So this is Lucio Fulci’s ‘86 erotic comeback (unusual for a gory giallo Maestro) “The Devil’s Honey”. Where to begin? Oh boy . . Greatest. Sax Scene. Ever. There’s a nice balance between feelings of guilt, remorse, and revenge . . Coupled with bondage, forced dog food ingestion, bike hand jobs, head trauma, boobs & bush galore! Step right up folks—[to paraphrase Cheech Marin] If this film ain’t got it, you don’t want it!
Okay, this was followed up—somehow—by the 1930 classic “The Big House” MGM; starring Wallace Beery, Chester Morris, and a relative newcomer to the screen Robert Montgomery (let’s see, which name does everybody recognize?). Predictable but an enjoyable 90 minutes. A few years later, we get Riot In Cell Block 11, another dynamite film.
