Have you ever taken the time to ask yourself why you do certain things? Until they diagnosed me with my health condition Iv’e never put to much thought into it. I think that maybe we need one of these events in our lives to start that introspection process. And keeping in my mind my lifestyle and my close relation with physical performance, I had no choice but the ask myself about a month ago “why am I still lifting heavy weights and doing long backcountry trips even though I have a heart condition and was told to slow down”. You would think it would be a simple answer like passion, but the reality of it is i had a lot of unknown motivations , influenced by suppressed emotions which was causing anxiety, which I would then escape from in the backcountry or by lifting weights. I’m not going to get in the details of those. But I think the main point is that I realized that my actions were influenced by my emotions, emotions that I wasn’t aware off, and to me this was a big revelation. It almost feels like a sort of emotional intelligence if that makes any sense. And this is a very positive turning point in my life right now, probably one of the most important. Here’s a good quote from a book called King, Warrior, Magician, Lover that expresses what i'm trying to put into words. ”This devotion to the goal even to the point of personal annihilation leads a man to another of the Warrior’s characteristics. He is emotionally distant as long as he is in the Warrior. This does not mean that the man accessing the Warrior in his fullness is cruel, just that he does not make his decisions and implement them out of emotional relatedness to anyone or anything except his ideal. He is unavailable or inaccessible.
He looks at his tasks, his decisions, and his actions dispassionately and unemotionally. Primarily because he has already thought things through before acting.” #explore #mountains #alpine #photography #landscape #landscapephotography #mountainscape #mountainphotography #getoutdoors #squamish #summit #adventures #sharecangeo #mycanadianphotos #iamatraveler #natgeoyourshot #canadiancreatives #explorebc #explorecanada #tourcanada #imagesofcanada #enjoycanada
