Another absolutely gorgeous fall day in the West Kootenays. This fall has been nothing short of amazing! Everyday the sun is shining and I'm not out with the kids or taking photographs I feel like it's a day wasted. This shot was taken from the pull off at the Montrose cutoff facing towards the airport and Waneta border. This view never disappoints.
The first rays of sunlight struck Mount Edith Cavell as this bull elk walked towards the mountain. I could hear the Canada geese coming overhead as I started to frame my shot. Just as the elk crested over the rise, he looked back for a moment, the same moment the geese came perfectly into frame and I hit the shutter. Sometimes everything just falls right into place (but most of the time it doesnt 😅)
Cooper’s hawk- I noticed this hawk in my backyard splashing around in a flooded part of my yard. I grabbed my camera and slowly started walking towards the bird thinking I have no chance of getting a shot it will fly away. I was wrong it hung around for about ten minutes with me getting full frame images. My lucky day.
I’ve been out east for the past week for work, and was feeling a bit sad about missing that much of the precious fall fungi season back home. 😕💔 But then today, I saw the very first mushroom I’ve seen since I arrived in Montreal...and it was clutched in the hands of this adorable squirrel...who moments later (swipe left!), made short work of gobbling the cap off before discarding the stem and scurrying away! 😍🍄🐿 What a special moment to have witnessed, especially with my camera in hand! ☺️❤️🙏
