When this fierce 9 year old wanted to try on a pair of my boots (with her mom’s permission) I was blown away at how they made her feel. She was so excited to try on a heel, and already knew she wanted to pair them with a blue denim jacket. She asked me what she should study if she wanted to be a designer and I almost burst into tears. It’s times like these where I remember young me, obsessed with shoes, wanting to be a designer. And now seeing that same spark in her, even if just for the duration of our interaction, I couldn’t help but to feel inspired. Inspired and grateful. But you best believe that her mom encouraged her to put her sneakers back on so she could run and jump and play exactly like a 9 year old should.
