And so the show came down on Saturday. That’s The “Cabbage Woman”, first to go up & last to come down, carried out by my expert show people, Jared @jdparts & Lin @kalindidefrancis. The “Cabbage Woman” will go home with daughter @margotelena as she enriches her collection of art & artifacts. She will live happily there now.
As an artist, do you at times suffer grave misgivings about what you’re doing and why on earth are you doing this anyhow? Share your story with us. I think most artist, writes, dancers, poets, have these misgivings.
_____________________ “Making art has its own purpose within itself; there is no particular purpose external to itself. There is no reason to make art; you just really want to make art. You feel that something is compelling you, ordering you to be there. It’s not that something actually compels you, but there is something that continually encourages you to make art. This is called flow—the flow of life. We feel oneness with nature & everything in the activity & motion of making art. If we practice hard we experience this oneness; this attainment is enlightenment.” Katagiri—paraphrase.
I’ve gained many insights from my show, watching people looking at the paintings, seeing them altogether in one space, and I’ve sold enough to make me happy. I can say unequivocally today that I’m happy I stayed the course & developed my art over these many years to come to this point wherever I can tell good stories through my chosen art and craft.
I’ll be sharing more of the elegant, feminine drawings with you as I create them. My three lines of art work, which also will include the paintings and the sumi e inks, is on my online portfolio www.marilynwells.com, so check it out and stay tuned. #inspiration #art_we_inspire
