SIX OF CROWS BY LEIGH BARDUGO
This is definitely on my top 5 reads of 2018
I tried to read it a couple of times But recently I decided to give it another go and absolutely fell in love with it. First of all, it's so well-written. It was a pleasure for me to read
Secondly, the characters. OH MY. Don't even get me started. Kaz. His life story before the Dregs. His love for his team. His genius ideas. He'll do anything to keep his people safe. He isn't the person that he pretends to be. And has every reason to be as broken as he is. I have nothing but respect for Kaz.
Inej. I adore this girl. She's incredibly strong, but not only because of her knife collection, she endured so much stuff in her life. Nevertheless, she's so kind and caring. She isn't the Wraith, she's the glue that keeps this team together. Jesper. A lover of his pistols and gambling. He's honest (for the most part), loyal, has some great sarcastic comments and is fond of adrenaline (and of course Wylan).
Wylan. He's unbelievably talented and also intelligent. A great artist, plays several musical instruments. He's really curious about how most of things in our world work. Wylan is kindhearted and dying to read The Crooked Kingdom to learn about him more and see him grow as a person.
Nina. She made a few wrong decisions (as we all do). But she's hilarious, has some strong believes, will never betray her own country and adores sweets. Although, many just look at her appearance, she's got so much to offer than just that. She's smart, speaks several languages and will do anything to keep her loved ones out of danger. Matthias. Oh, he annoyed the crap out of me during the first half of the book. A dumb, offended, biased man. But he'll understand that it's so wrong to hate someone because of who they are. A Grisha. A Drüskelle. We all are humans. We are equal.
And finally, so many plot twists I absolutely did not expect.
So I grabbed The Crooked kingdom as soon as I finished Six of crows.
Help me Lord not to spend my salary on all of @lbardugo's books. Can't wait for her to write plenty of other books
